Houston retains close ties to the UK due to the energy sector, with many of the major companies either having world headquarters or regional offices in the city. In addition, it attracts a global audience each year as the home of the Offshore Technology Conference. It means that there’s a large British ex-pat population, either based temporarily as contractors or having laid roots and settled in Texas.
